The Black Captain is the final Main Mission in Udun, and is the first 'boss fight' in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. This mission can only be undertaken once all 4 Warchiefs have been killed and The Monument mission is completed.
With the monument to Sauron destroyed, one of the Black Captains has answered your challenge, and awaits you at the sight of the ruined statue.
As the mission begins The Hammer will arrive at the scene of the crime and demand an explanation. As the remaining Captains gather, it seems that only one Warchief is left to blame - poor old Ratbag. The Hammer will demand that the others hunt you down... until you arrive behind him.
Thankfully, the remaining Uruk Captains will not be joining you in this fight, as The Hammer will command a group of regular Uruks instead. This doesn't mean things will be easy however, as The Hammer is a powerhouse. You won't be able to view his strengths or weaknesses, so know that ranged attacks do nothing to him. Quite the opposite, he will sometimes launch projectile back at you just as fast. This goes for arrows, dagger tossing, and even Wraith Blasts. He is also immune to vaulting, and will often counter with a swift attack after Talion strikes him several times, making it hard to dodge. He is however susceptible to combat executions, which will deal moderate damage to him.
The Hammer has two big attacks that he can perform, one of which is an unblockable sweeping attack that launches a deadly projectile straight at you. The other attack comes at the end of a section of the fight, where he will perform an area of effect blast to keep you at bay while he summons more Uruks.
You can make use of these Uruks by hitting them to increase your Hit Streak so that you can perform Combat Executions on The Hammer. For a bonus objective, you can shank grabbed Uruks for easy additions to your Hit Streak, as long The Hammer isn't swinging your way.
When his health drops low enough, you'll finally have a chance to end it with a Last Chance Quick-time event to end The Hammer's life.
After the battle, you'll meet a new character who offers to take you away from Udun to the Sea of Nurn. You can now go on this Main Mission, which you can see here.
